BREAKING NEWS: Deal Reached to PASS THE BUCK!
GREAT BREAKING NEWS FROM TALLAHASSEE …
I’m delighted to report that House and Senate negotiators working out a final product on our tobacco surcharge issue have just hashed out an agreement. Most importantly, it includes an increase of a BUCK on cigarettes, as well as a significant increase on smokeless tobacco products.
The finalized conference committee report will be considered by the full membership of the House and Senate this Friday. It is expected to pass easily in the upper chamber, and we’re working hard to shore up the vote in the House.
The Governor, after months of wrestling with the issue, today indicated he would likely sign the measure.
Stay tuned…hopefully for news of final passage late this week of a bill that will have an incredible impact on our mission.
