Support Calorie Posting in New Jersey The American Cancer Society is calling on the state legislature to give consumers quick and easy access to calorie information about the food they are ordering in fast food restaurants. This will help families make healthy choices at the point of purchase, and give them tools to help counter the growing obesity trends. New York City gave consumers access to this information with calorie board and menu labels last year, and Philadelphia did the same in January 2010. So have a number of other jurisdictions around the country. When one executive signed his county’s law, he said, “I’m hard pressed to find a situation where more information for consumers is not a good thing.” Get Involved: Let’s give everyone the healthy information they can use. A bill to enact this law statewide has passed in Trenton and will go into effect next year!!! The legislature passed the bill on January 11th and now the Governor signed it into law on January 18th. Congratulations one and all!
